How I can support you during labor…

  • Comfort Measures:  I offer various comfort measures such as light massage, heat/cold, counter pressure, etc.

  • Positioning:  It is important to keep moving during labor. I help remind and facilitate these important position changes, as they are needed, throughout your labor.   I help facilitate and suggest types of position change, as needed, throughout labor.

  • Advocacy:  Advocacy is very important during pregnancy and labor.  I work with you to prepare for situations you may face in the birth room and help you and your partner be advocates for your choices.

  • Emotional Encouragement & Support: Every woman deserves to birth in a way that is comfortable for her.  I work with you towards your labor goals.  I support your decisions no matter how you choose to give birth or choose to cope with the pain of labor.

  • Partner Support:  I do NOT replace your partner during labor.  My job, as a doula, is to support you during labor, support your partner and help your partner support you.

  • Educational Support:  Often times during labor, medical staff do not have time to explain everything that is happening in a thorough way.  I can help bridge that gap by explaining, with a calm presence, what is happening.

  • After Birth Support:  After you have given birth, I stay with you until you are ready for private time with your baby/family.  I will be there to remind you of any plans you wanted to take place and help you facilitate bonding and feeding with your baby.

  • Photos:  If you wish, I can snap photos of you, baby and your partner after the birth.

Bentonville Doula Frequently asked questions…

A birth doula is a non-medical professional who provides the laboring woman support during labor and in the prenatal period.  A midwife, like a doctor,  is a trained health professional who focuses on the safety of mom and baby during the prenatal, labor and postpartum period.

I recommend reserving your birth doula in advance to ensure there is availability around your due date.  If you reserve my services, I will be on-call from when you are 37 weeks pregnant all the way until you give birth.

At this time, I offer birth doula services at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Mercy Hospital in Rogers, and Willow Creek in Johnson.  I can also offer birth doula services throughout many areas of NWA.  Contact me with your specific situation.
