I’m a mom of 3, certified birth doula, and someone who is passionate about supporting women on their birth journey! As your Bentonville doula, my goal is for you to have your best possible birth experience. To achieve this, we meet prenatally to create your birth plan, try out positions/comfort measures, and prepare for postpartum. During labor, I offer comfort, strategic position changes, encouragement, and advocacy.

How do you envision your labor? Here is how I can help support you…

Comfort Measures & Tools: Throughout your labor, we try different comfort tools & techniques such as heating pads, cool cloths, various counter pressure techniques and massage.
Strategic Position changes for birth: I help facilitate movement during labor, whether you are using an epidural or not. I focus on strategic positioning depending on where your baby is in the pelvis. We use a variety of tools available such as bed positions, peanut ball, birth ball, and hydrotherapy.
Advocacy For Your Preferences: As your Bentonville doula, I work with you prenatally to understand what you want during labor. During labor, I will remind you and health care providers about your preferences and ensure you understand any recommendations as they arrise.
Emotional Support & Encouragement: This element of support may look different with each client. I help you through each contraction with breathing, words of encouragement, hand holding, or more physical support.
Support For Your Partner: As your doula, I am not here to replace your partner. I am here to allow you and your partner to enjoy your birth experience. Since I stay with you, your partner has flexibility for sleep, eating, or quick trips home as needed.
Knowledge of what is happening: Unlike medical staff, I am a constant presence in your birth room, so I can explain what is going on, help you work through any recommendations, or help you get answers during labor.

To prepare for labor and postpartum, support your labor goals and to get acquainted, we meet several times prior to your labor. Appointments can be customized to suit your needs and can include any of the following:

How is a Bentonville birth doula different than a midwife?

As your Bentonville birth doula, I am a non-medical professional. I provide emotional support, educational support, and hands-on comfort measures throughout your labor. A midwife is an alternative to an OB. They are a trained health professional who focuses on the safety of mom and baby prenatally, during labor and in the postpartum period.

How can I make sure you are available for my birth?

I recommend reserving your birth doula in advance to ensure there is availability around your due date as I limit the amount of births I take each month. If you reserve my services, I will be on-call from when you are 37 weeks pregnant all the way until you give birth.

What areas of NWA do you offer birth doula services?

At this time, I offer birth doula services at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Washington Regional in Fayetteville and Willow Creek in Johnson. I can also offer home birth doula services throughout many areas of NWA. Contact me with your specific situation.
