How I can support you during labor…

  • Comfort Measures:  This includes massage, counter pressure, heat/cold, etc.

  • Positioning:  I help facilitate and suggest types of position change, as needed, throughout labor.

  • Advocacy:  I help you and your partner advocate for your labor preferences.

  • Emotional Support & Encouragement: No matter how you choose to give birth, I will support your decisions and help encourage you to achieve the birth you want.

  • Partner Support: My job is NOT to replace your partner, but instead help your partner support you.  Often, having a doula present can relieve stress on your partner during labor.

  • Educational Support: I can help you and your partner understand what is going on in labor and what your choices may be.

  • After Birth Support:  After giving birth, I will stay with you for up to 2 hours until you are ready for me to go. During this time, I can help facilitate bonding and feeding your baby.

  • Photos:  I am happy to take photos after the birth or at any other time that it is possible or appropriate, according to your wishes.

NWA Doula Frequently asked questions…

I prioritize being fully available to provide high-quality, personalized doula care over taking on as many births as possible. The more families a doula supports each month, the higher the chance she won’t be there when you need her most. While I have a network of trusted backup doulas, I work hard to avoid ever needing to call a backup doula in—and so far, I haven’t had to.

It’s important that you choose a doula you trust, connect with, and can rely on to guide and support you through one of life’s most vulnerable and challenging moments. That’s why I accept no more than 3 births per month. In the very unlikely event a backup doula is needed, I have a network of experienced doulas I can rely on to step in.

A birth doula is a non-medical professional who provides the laboring woman support during labor and in the prenatal period.  A midwife, like a doctor,  is a trained health professional who focuses on the safety of mom and baby during the prenatal, labor and postpartum period.

My schedule tends to fill up quickly and I limit my clients to 3 per month. I recommend reserving your birth doula in advance to ensure there is availability around your due date.  If you reserve my services, I will be on-call from when you are 37 weeks pregnant all the way until you give birth.

At this time, I offer birth doula services at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Willow Creek in Johnson, and Washington Regional In Fayetteville.  I can also offer home-birth doula services throughout many areas of NWA.  Contact me with your specific situation.

I am proudly certified with and a current member of DONA international, as well as Madriella.

Please contact me to discuss your individual health insurance policy and doula coverage.  If your health insurance policy covers doulas, it is very likely I would qualify to be covered, since I am a certified doula through DONA International, one of the most well known doula certification organizations.  I am also planning on being a medicaid provider once the rules for Medicaid are finalized, which has not happened yet.  New rules are also popping up in Arkansas for doulas being covered by insurance, so please check with your individual plan.  If you work for Walmart, I can take their $1000 doula insurance benefit for birth doula services.
