We go through the stages of labor, how you may feel during each stage, how your partner can help, and what labor variations can look like. We will also talk about baby positioning, knowing when you are in labor, and the golden hour. I also provide a PDF of the information for easy reference.

We dive into common labor practices, complications and the evidence.  We explore pros and cons of various medication choices, and discuss how you can best make informed decisions.  Depending on your goals for birth, we talk about common labor room scenarios and how you should advocate for your preferences.

We meet in-person to practice and learn about various strategic labor positions and comfort techniques. I give you my “pro-tips”, and I include a custom made cheat sheet you can bring to the birth with you, so you won’t forget what you learned. We also discuss how your birth team can support you during labor depending on your specific goals.

This session includes a postpartum plan discussion, going over various checklists, reviewing safe baby sleep, and completing my custom-made breastfeeding education.  You will have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about the postpartum period, feeding your baby, and baby care.  This session includes various postpartum handouts and important links.

Birth Class Frequently asked questions…

This class is great for first time moms, moms who did not enjoy their previous birth experience, or moms planning a different childbirth experience this time.  These classes will also teach your partner how to best support you during labor.

My comprehensive NWA childbirth class is great for those who want to learn as much as they can about childbirth.  This class doesn’t waste time on pointless “filler” activities or prepare you to be a “good” hospital patient.  These classes give you the information you need to know to feel confident and well prepared for birth.

This class is a more customized experience and dives deeper into topics that are relevant to you.  There are also many topics that your hospital class doesn’t cover.  Hospital classes are taught from a narrow, medical perspective, often in order to help you understand the hospital’s procedures. This class focuses more on your choices and allows for personal discussions about your particular needs.

Yes, anyone who you plan on having in the room with you may join any of the childbirth class sessions.
